What is involved?
Mike’s Pre-IDC programme covers various key topics such as:
- PADI Systems, Standards and Proceedures: You don’t need to memorise all PADI standards, but you do need to have the most up-top-date version of the PADI Instructor manual and – just as important – you need to be proficient in quickly finding relevant training standards.
- Dive theory: Physics, Physiology, Equipment, Skills and Environment, the RDP and eRDPml – how well do you remember these from your Divemaster preparation. Many people seem to believe that these topics will be taught during the IDC – this is wrong! All of this dive theory should have been developed during the Divemaster training. Refer to your copy of the Diving Knowledge Workbook (provided during the Divemaster course). If you can answer these multiple-choice questions correctly whist being able to explain why other options are incorrect then you have nothing to worry about. Don’t underestimate how much you’ll have forgotten.
- Basic dive skills such as rescue skills, tying knots and rigging lift-bags etc.
