PADI Open Water Course Schedule
The course takes 3 days. We do not have a fixed schedule for when these courses are run. This training is provided on demand meaning that we begin on a day which is convenient to you.
Furthermore there is not need to make these three days consecutive – if you want to break it up then just let us know your ideal schedule and we’ll create an adaptive programme to suit you.
We do not wait until we have a full class before scheduling a course meaning that frequently our students are 1:1 with their instructor.
Each day begins at 09:00. If you have already completed the knowledge development then you will usually be finished by 15:00 each day. If you only enrol for the course whilst already here then you’ll need to complete the Knowledge Development with us. In this case you can expect the course to run until 17:00 each day.

What’s involved?
The PADI Open Water Diver course is divided into three sections: Knowledge Development, Confined Water training and Open Water Dives.
If you book your course in advance then we will provide you with access to PADI’s online learning resources. This will allow you to complete all of the Knowledge Development from the comfort of your own home. This will save you from losing out on valuable holiday time while you study!
Having this portion of the course completed in advance also means that each day of the course will be shorter. This gives you even more free time to enjoy with friends and family.
Typically, day one of the course will cover the Confined Water training. We use our on-site training pool and our local beach for this training.
Days two and three of the course are then free for the Open Water dives. Over these two days you will make four dives in the sea. The first two dives are done from the beach as this offers ideal conditions for training and introducing you to SCUBA. The final two dives are done from our boat. These dives allow you to experience what diving is really going to be like once you are certified.
Referrals
The PADI Open Water course is completely modular and standardised meaning that every time you complete one small section of the course your instructor will make a record of this. If you become ill or have to stop training for any reason then we will give you a ‘referral document’ which details exactly what you have and haven’t done. You will have one year in which to take this referral document to any PADI dive centre worldwide, and you can pick up where you left off.
Commonly, people choose to complete the Knowledge Development and Confined Water training at home and then bring a referral document to us to simply make the four Open Water dives here in the warm, clear Atlantic waters around Tenerife.
Are you fit to dive?
There are certain pre-existing medical conditions which can increase the health risks associated with diving. Before commencing any PADI programmes if is necessary to first review and complete PADI’s Medical Statement. If you answer ‘No’ to every question listed here then you are ready to begin. If you answer ‘Yes’ to any questions on this questionnaire then you must first visit your doctor and receive a certificate stating that you are fit to dive.
