The PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite for all Professional level PADI courses, beginning with the PADI Divemaster certification. Enroll in a PADI Rescue Diver course and prepare yourself to Go Pro.
During the PADI Divemaster course qualified Rescue Divers will learn the knowledge and skills necessary to make the transition from a recreational diver to the first professional membership level. Instructor level academic knowledge will be developed and tested.
Confined Water Training includes perfecting all standard open water skills which are improved to demonstration quality, rescue skills, equipment exchange (problem solving) and watermanship and stamina are evaluated.
Dives typically include: deep, wreck, drift, reef, navigation, underwater mapping, and dive leader exercises which will develop the candidates' skills in dive planning, leadership and proper response to common underwater problems.
Functioning as an instructional assistant is also covered in the pool and the ocean. Upon successful completion of the course, the student is certified as a PADI Divemaster and qualifies for attendance to PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) - leading to eventual certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
We offer two versions of this course; you can choose between intensive training for which we require payment in advance and which takes between 8 and 12 days to complete, or an internship. Divemaster internships are run between July and October. The course is free, although you are required to purchase study materials and expected to have your own dive equipment. You will be required to work for 35 days as a Divemaster intern on top of the time that it takes to complete your study and skills development. This type of course has the added benefit of gaining first hand experience of working in a busy dive centre.
Whichever system suits you best we strongly advise that you study the manual and encyclopedia and work through the exercises in the diving knowledge workbook before commencing the course. This will give you a good understanding of what is expected of you as a Divemaster and facilitate your progress once the course is underway. When you start the course you will be allocated an instructor who will act as your mentor for the duration of your training.
