What will I learn?
Also on the first day of your course you will cover as much as possible of the Knowledge Development portion of the course. This is where you learn about the various forces which act on us while we dive, how we adapt to them, and the limits which are imposed on us. The information is delivered in your PADI Open Water Diver Manual, which is included when you sign up for the course. The Knowledge Development is divided into five sections which each have a corresponding chapter in the manual and an accompanying video.
After reviewing the material in your own time, you will go through everything with your instructor to ensure that you have fully understood all of the key points. Once all 5 of the Knowledge Development sections have been completed you will be issued with a ‘final exam’ to identify any gaps in your comprehension, so that you can re-visit these subject areas as necessary with your instructor.
